Hornets sign Charlotte native Jaylen Sims for rest of season

The Charlotte Hornets have signed guard Jaylen Sims for the remainder of the season after his first 10-day contract expired. A Charlotte native, Sims played at United Faith Academy and starred at UNC Wilmington, where he earned All-Colonial Athletic Association first-team honors in 2021-22. According to WBTV, Sims is the Greensboro Swarm’s all-time leading scorer and helped lead the Hornets’ G League affiliate to its first playoff appearance. This season, he averaged 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 49 games, leading the Swarm in total points (936) and free throws made (174).
