North Carolina Aquarium Set for $56 Million Renovation

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher has received a $7.5 million grant to support its $56 million renovation. According to WBTV, the aquarium originally opened in 1976 and expanded in the 1990s and 2000s, the aquarium has not seen a major update in nearly 20 years. Located on the edge of Kure Beach, the popular attraction draws 500,000 visitors annually, including over 5,000 local students.
