Charlotte Animal Shelter Continues to Operate at Critical Capacity

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control staff avoided space-based euthanasia decisions on Thursday, but the shelter’s capacity crisis continues, per WBTV. With more than 150 dogs arriving in the past four days, including 35 on Thursday, the shelter remains at critical capacity. While 40 dogs were adopted, fostered, or sent to rescues, only 20 kennels were available as of Friday morning. In response to the growing need for fosters and adopters, the shelter has expanded its weekend hours.
