The City of Charlotte plans to close the Lamplighter Inn next month due to safety concerns stemming from more than a dozen unresolved code violations.
According to WBTV, nearly 70 residents of the hotel, located in Northwest Charlotte, must vacate the property by December 11, the city announced. Despite repeated efforts to compel the owner to address issues with utilities and other violations, the property was deemed “unsafe,” with 21 open code enforcement cases still pending.
To assist displaced tenants, the city will collaborate with local agencies to provide relocation support. Those unable to find housing by the deadline will be offered temporary accommodations or connected to homelessness services.
