Lake Norman Empowerment Festival

The Ausie & Martin Rivens Scholarship Foundation (AMRS), a 501c3, nonprofit, is hosting its annual family friendly, free event for the 18th year on September 21st at Smithville Park in Cornelius at 5PM. Two of the top gospel artists in the country will attend: John P. Kee and Shirley Caesar. Also, on the lineup: Mario McKennon, The Stroller Singers of Torrence Chapel AME Zion, The Backyard Singers and Evan Garris featuring Lejeune Thompson.

The event includes a basketball clinic, hosted by Livingstone College Women’s Basketball, healthy food demonstrations with Celebrity Chef Stanford, educational vendors, inspirational vendors, food trucks and music.  More than 3000 people were in attendance in 2023.  You can check out last year’s event using the link below:

Proceeds from the event cover the expenses of the festival and support the scholarship fund. The AMRS foundation has donated more than $25,000 in scholarships to area students. (website: tonyarivens.com then amr scholarship)
