Local organization meeting the challenges of Mental Illness

Statistics suggest a staggering 57.8 million adults in the United States grapple with some form of mental illness. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 43% of people with mental illness “received some kind of mental health care.” There’s far too many people in our country merely existing mentally. In other words, their mental health, perspective on life and overall well-being acquiesces to anxiety and depression. However, help is available. For 90 years, Mental Health America of Central Carolinas has done exceptional work providing resources for people struggling with mental wellness. Whether it’s advocacy, counseling or education, MHA continues to be the leading voice for people with mental illness. ‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ host, Ron Holland delved into the work of MHA with its Executive Director, Ayo Johnson. .
